With four highly praised seasons of Inside Amy Schumer and one successful feature film under her belt, Amy Schumer has reached the point where she can pretty much write her own ticket. Thankfully, screenwriter Katie Dippold The Heat has finally let a few details drop on her collaboration with Schumer. In a recent interview with Collider , the writer described her new movie as the result of a bit of daydreaming on her own relationship with her mother. After a failed attempt to set her mother up with an online dating account, Dippold began to wonder what it would be like if she took her mother on a grand adventure, just to shake things up again. The tropical adventure film starring Schumer and Goldie Hawn was the result. She gets taken off the beaten path, but then everything the mother feared is correct. As Collider points out in the interview, it has been almost 14 years since Goldie Hawn took on a movie role, which we can all agree is way the heck too long. A new Amy Schumer movie is reward enough, but bringing Goldie Hawn back to her adventure roots? What more could we possibly need? Share on Facebook Share on Twitter.

Since Paul Feig first announced he was going to reboot Ghostbusters with an all female leading cast critics, such as myself, have sparred with him over his movie. While some critics have resorted to sexist remarks I have maintained that Paul Feig should have either done the job he was originally asked, which was to direct Ghostbusters 3, or to step aside and let someone else, someone more capable, direct the sequel fans had waited oh-so-long for, the sequel which was ready to start production and just needed a director.
I have also aimed my critique at Amy Pascal, who despite having worked with Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman on the aforementioned sequel sought out Paul Feig to reboot the franchise as yet another Melissa McCarthy vehicle movie hiding under the transparent veil of faux-feminism. One name that has so far escaped criticism is screenwriter Katie Dippold, who co-wrote the Ghostbusters reboot with director Feig. At that time, there was literally no movie written, you know?
Leslie has such strong energy and we wanted someone to be that powerful in that role. While I commend Katie Dippold for defending the movie she co-wrote with Feig, and while I also commend her for defending his movie, let’s reiterate – Ghostbusters 3 was already written, the cast was already on board and the studio was prepared to begin production early This is the first reason why you were criticized. The second reason is despite that Ghostbuster 3 only needed a director, Paul Feig’s reboot was greenlit by Amy Pascal sacked for mismanagement and racism without anything – he had nothing, no script, no cast, no crew, nothing.

Surely every fan and critic is watching with a skeptical eye. But for Katie Dippold, who co-wrote the script with Feig, the opportunity was nothing short of thrilling.
But I couldn’t not do it.
Katie Dippold wrote the most hilarious sequel to The Heat, it’s a take on Silence Of The Lambs. We desperately want to do a horror/comedy, me.

Taking inspiration from the upcoming release of the Justice League Snyder Cut, Paul Feig says he’d be up for a special release of the “Feyger Cut” of his controversial reboot movie Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. Originally, Feig’s cut of the movie had a runtime of over three hours long, requiring many heavy edits before reaching its theatrical runtime of minutes. That’s literally half of the footage that was cut from the reboot before Answer the Call played in theaters in , but Feig if giving fans of the movie hope that they could see the extra-long version with a proper release some day.
In fact, the fanbase is currently trying to convince the powers that be behind the scenes at Columbia Pictures to greenlight a sequel, and today it looks like Feig is still interested in returning for more busting of the ghost variety. Paul Feig was recently interviewed about the movement for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call 2 and said this. We’re hoping there’s a second call, and if we do get it, it’s all because of you.

Thirty years after the debut of the beloved franchise, Ghostbusters is back on the big screen, with new ghostbusters, new tech, a new villain and new ghosts, all while providing nods to the original. Collider: How daunting is it to stare at a blank page and tackle a year film legacy? I was terrified, at first, but at the same time, it spoke to everything I love. There were a billion reasons I was so excited to do this, but I knew the bar was going to be very high and I knew there could very possibly be painful times ahead.
What were you most excited about, when it came to writing a Ghostbusters movie, and what were you most nervous about pulling off? I wanted to work on new places in New York, just to get that feeling again, especially with these new actors. That was most exciting to me. Also, the character stuff was really fun, to think about new ways in and new dynamics. The hardest part was the villain plot line, just because the first two movies are so in our heads.
